Human Rights Painting Project
New York, NY 10002,
12 works from my Human Rights Painting Project will be on display at Dixon Place, as part of the International Human Rights Art Festival (March 3-5, 2017).
Begun in 2002 to raise awareness of human rights issues from around the world, as well as support the work of Amnesty International, works from the project have been exhibited more than 40 times around the United States, Canada and Europe. The Human Rights Painting Project highlights the struggle for human rights the world over - and the important work that Amnesty International does in working towards this goal. Using a contemporary artistic voice, I interpret different aspects of the struggle for human rights, emphasizing the stories that bring it to life. Biographies of each person featured accompany the paintings. The works will be on view in the Lounge Gallery.
