Puffin Foundation Grant

The Puffin Foundation awarded a grant to support the commission of the second act of A Great Wave, currently scheduled to be presented at the Poppenhusen Museum in College Point, NY, in May 2025. As noted in the application: “The project intends to open a doorway of understanding between American history of immigration, and the current difficult social and political ideas on the matter. We are struggling to understand the importance of immigration now, as in 1890s.  Additionally, we want to highlight the importance of the marginalized and forgotten community of College Point, where immigrants still build and run the community, though from very different countries than 130 years ago.  We want our audience to not only appreciated the centrality of their community — College Point — to the history and growth of New York City, but also to see the similarities in the issues of that time and those of today.”

As the Puffin award letter said: “Our Board was truly impressed with the nature of your proposal and the commitment you have made to fulfill the objectives outlined in your request.”
